The Curious incident of the dog in the night-time

A conflict:

Christopher has a problem, but not any kind of problem. He has to deal with the fact that his father lied to him about his mother. And to tell lies makes Christopher upset. He doesn’t like that people are telling lies. White lies are okay though, but like Christopher, you need to know the difference between bad lies and white lies. But in this case, his father had lied about something very serious. He told Christopher two years ago that his mom died, and that she had a heart attack and didn’t survive this. But the truth was that she had left her husband and her little child, for everyone’s best she said. And yes, to run away like that was unnecessary and selfish. But just because the father was angry for that she left him, doesn’t mean that he can lie to Christopher.

But Christopher has a lot of other problems too, which can be really annoying. He does have a private problem, but he also has this social and physical problems. You see, he suffers from Asberger’s Syndrome which means that he needs an ordered and stable life to be happy and safe. He doesn’t like to be touched, and he has difficulty understanding human behavior, gestures and relationships.

So, for a lot of people this can seem like a total mess. The boy actually needs to deal with two huge problems at the same time, but in the end it appears that the disease doesn’t come in his way of how he handles everyday life. And in this book we learn that even if people encounter obstacles, there is no one saying that you can’t make it any further.  You try and you fail sometime, but in the end it should go your way!

Crash

This movie was really touching and moving. It made me start thinking deeper about racism and how people are living together. All of the different episodes in the movie came so highly impressive that it was impossible to not react and make your own opinion. We were dragged into the movie. We were witnesses to different episodes, but all the episodes had the same sub-topics. That made it easy to see the various types of racism and how this affects people standing in the middle of it. People react different, and the actions are not the same, but it is based on the same; racism.
